Reykjavik, Sterling and Verissimo

These three are our latest additions to the 'clan'.

I had not and did not intend on getting anymore Gerbils, purely because I want to cut my numbers down and so I was waiting until a few had left us before considering anymore Gerbils.

All I intended on buying was a new tank and some toys and perhaps a Syrian Hamster.... hahaha... I've had my eyes on Syrians for a while now!

Anyway, I was checking out the cutey Hammies while my mum was stood cooing over the gerbils around the other side, eventually I went to get her to come look at the little Hammies and noticed that the tank she was cooing at had a white gerbil.... I tried looking more closely at it, but he was curled up in a ball and wasn't opening his eyes no matter how much tapping on the glass I did!!

I could see that he had dark ears, so I KNEW he had to have dark eyes, PEW and REW just don't have dark pigment in their ears. I did plan on introducing him to a younger male in the next tank, so that I would have two more rather than three. Eventually I decided against this and just to get all three instead. Less stress all round that way.

I held the BEW whilst I was deciding what to do, mainly to check him out, see if his eyes were indeed black and to check the colour of his underfur. He was very calm and even began to pur at me, which was a big shoc considering he was from a petshop and I have the feeling they had been there a good few weeks or so because they are not young pups. Most likely no one had bought them because there were two Golden Agouti's and one white gerbil, which most people seem to associate with albino lab rats... Not that I am complaining in the slightest.

So here I am, three Gerbils up... We now have more than we've ever had even with the death of Phoenix and Monaco!! Baaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I'm not sure exactly what Reyk could be, I do think he may be spotted... But again I'm not totally sure, I thought I could see some sort of pied markings and he does appear to have a white tail tip, but he has so little ticking on his tail anyway that it may be coincidence... I've tried messing around with photos in Photoshop, changing the contrast, hue etc but it's not showed anything up on the images so far.

So I guess the only way to ever be sure is to breed him. He could be a CP DEH, LCP DEH, LCP Spotted Golden Agouti etc... I've found a site with photos of the spotted LCP Golden Agouti and I don't think he is one, because their tails had much more ticking on them then his does... But who knows, these things can vary so much. But he does look very similar to a CP DEH they had on the site, even the colour and placing of the ticking on the tail was the same. But again, I will never know unless I breed.

If I was ever to breed Reyk, then I would do so in quarantine, I don't want to risk anything at all. But I have a long time to decide.
