Abew - Syrian Hamster

Today I got a new member to the family, an almost black eyed white Syrian Hamster... We think he must be some sort of dominant spot, banded black eyed cream or blonde. So, because he is an almost bew, I've called him abew...

Or if you're interested we also call him Hammibal Hector.

Not that he's ever bitten or been aggressive towards anyone, it's just a nickname.

So far he does not appear to like to be scooped, this just causes him to go running around wildly - I have a feeling his eyesight is worse than most hamsters! Anyway, but he doesn't mind your hand being in the tank, and he's happy enough to sniff at you. I am at the point where he will put his paws on my hand, but he just hasn't completely walked onto me yet.
He does however let me pick him up by the waist when he wants to go back home when I let him roam around on the top of the tank. The first time I tried this he did go belly diving into the tank because it scared him but now we don't seem to have a problem. So I would expect that in a couple more weeks he will come onto me as he's already partially there.
